Welcome to twoday.org, home of the open-source, feature-rich, industry-proven blog-hosting software twoday. No matter if you want to run a single blog for your own, or if you want to install tenthousands of blogs for your school or company, twoday should be the right choice.
Twoday is the software running at (among others) twoday.net, a german-speaking weblog hosting platform hosted and developed by Knallgrau. The software is in large part based on Antville and powered by Helma, a lightning fast, highly scalable Java web application server. Knallgrau hopes to be able to establish an active user and developer community around the twoday-software, and invites everybody to participate in development and discussion here at twoday.org.
Twoday itself is released under a liberal BSD-style license (as Antville and Helma), which basically states that you are free to do with the software whatever you want. But still, make sure that you read and understand the license agreement (as well as the license agreements of the contained third-party code).
The latest version is 1.0.0 and is labeled as beta. Go ahead and fetch it from Sourceforge.
This is our first release under the BSD-style license. It is very similar to the installation at twoday.net and therefore we are confident to be able to declare it stable within the next couple of weeks. See the roadmap for further details.
Installation should be dead simple
, nevertheless some instructions are provided on the according wiki page: http://polpa.info/installation.
All you need to get your own twoday installation up and running is besides twoday itself, a recent Java Runtime Environment, as well as the MySQL database.
As soon as you got your system up and running, you might have the urge to ask even more question. The User Documentation will hopefully provide answers and pointers to help you.
Information for interested developers can be found at the sourceforge project page, as well as here in the wiki: development
We would like to say a big thank you to numerous people, but above all especially to the Helma- and Antville-developers! Without them twoday would clearly not exist. Additionally our thanks go to all the programmers of the great open-source java components/libraries, which we use for twoday. That is (among others) the Apache Software Foundation, Mortbay, Sun and the Mozilla foundation.
